Oh brother. Not the sharpest tool but still a tool.

In the future when no one here offers any help or even opens your posts, ruminate on this thread.

Apparently I'm stupid for not buying some scambait mirror from China, and I'm a liar for sharing the quote I got from a dealer.
    Gottit.

LOL Now, you are being difficult. It is obvious from the context what was meant.

No one here told you to get a mirror from China if there is even such a mirror. You should only get it from a Toyota dealer. People are only telling you that the price you quoted is MSRP, and you can shop around the dealers (including those who ship online) or negotiate with them. Just like we don’t pay MSRP when we buy the whole car from the dealer, we don’t pay MSRP when we buy the OEM car parts from the dealer. You were already shown links for Toyota dealers in Canada who sell the exact same mirror well below MSRP. If you do it through the insurance, they will take care of it for you and they can negotiate the labor, too.

Here is what I would do, which is what I did after the hit-and-run that broke my rear combination lamp and damaged the bumper cover.
    1. File an insurance claim and get a check for the job, which will probably be around $1,000 after the $500 deductible.
    2. Get the mirror from a Toyota dealer who offers a good discount (negotiate hard if necessary), which will probably be about $900 with tax.
    3. Do the job yourself.
    4. And make about $100.
In my case, I made close to $1,000 using the insurance check and by doing the job myself. If I had it done at a shop, I would have spent $500 for the deductible.

However, if you are not up for the job, just pay the $500 deductible and have it done for you.

Who says I wasn't going to shop around? When did I say I was going to pay that price?
    Build strawman arguments, much?

Apparently I'm stupid for not listening to such advice.

    Trolls gotta troll.
Apparently you've been dancing around the line long enough to get away with it.
Create strawman arguments, and try to provoke the battle you crave.
    I'm not biting.

You may fool the mods, but I won't give you the fight you're trolling for.
    I'll just use "ignore."

Paul, do you have PVM (Panoramic View Monitor)?

So, his car does not have PVM after all.

That means the following is the correct mirror, which does not cost $1,200 CAD MSRP as he claimed but $360.11 CAD MSRP and $295.00 CAD actual (after dealer discount):

    https://parts.brantfordtoyota.ca/search?search_str=87910-47680

Since this was due to his dealer’s error and he “obviously” had no control over it, every poster here except him has been a troll for kindly trying to help him, right?

I walked away from this thread because of the stupid, but I thought of something that might help others in the future that end up here for a similar situation.

The parts marked in green are key because you can't buy them separately. If either are damaged, you'll have to buy the complete mirror assembly. If they're intact, you can just buy the needed replacement parts and save a ton of money.

    Screenshot 2025-07-20 213634.png

If you have Panoramic View Monitor, the replacement mirror assembly is crazy expensive due to the camera and IR light. Depending on the condition of your damaged mirror, you might be able to get by with the cheaper version if your camera and light are still intact and you're comfortable with a little wiring work.

From your old mirror, you would need to at least salvage the very bottom panel with the camera and IR light attached(the part marked in blue). If the lower cover is also intact(the part marked in red), that's a bonus because you won't have to buy a replacement for it. The hardest part of the project is salvaging your original wiring harnesses(there are two - the main one and a wire for the camera feed).

The harnesses pass through a narrow hole and you won't be able to pull them out without removing the plastic connectors on the door end of the harnesses. If you de-pin the terminals and remove the plastic connectors, you'll be able to pull the wires through the hole and transfer the harnesses to the new mirror. Then you would pass the harness through the hole in the new mirror and re-pin the plastic connectors back on.

It's all a giant PITA, but it could save you something like $500 if you're doing everything yourself.

    LH Mirror parts:
    $1107.78 - 87940-47670 - Mirror Assembly with PVM
    $42.73 - 87945-47110-C0 - Cover, Outer Mirror
    or
    $366.75 - 87940-47660 - Mirror Assembly without PVM
$41.40 - 8794B-47670 - Cover, Outer Mirror No. 3 with PVM - if needed (the part marked in red)
    $42.73 - 87945-47110-C0 - Cover, Outer Mirror

    RH Mirror parts:
    $1107.78 - 87910-47690 - Mirror Assembly with PVM
    $42.73 - 87915-47110-C0 - Cover, Outer Mirror
    or
    $366.75 - 87910-47680 - Mirror Assembly without PVM
$41.40 - 8791B-47690 - Cover, Outer Mirror No. 3 with PVM - if needed (the part marked in red)
    $42.73 - 87915-47110-C0 - Cover, Outer Mirror

(prices are full US MSRP w/ no discounts)

So to recap, if you have a damaged mirror with PVM, you might be able to get away with purchasing the cheaper mirror and the No. 3 Cover from the PVM version(if needed). I would rate the difficulty of the job at least a 3/5 and maybe a 4/5 depending on if you've ever done any wiring before. The basic replacement of the mirror is a 1/5 to 2/5 depending on your experience working on cars; it really is super easy if you have even a little experience.

edit: BTW, this is what I did myself to save money when I did my power folding/turn signal conversion. When I realized I would have to buy a complete mirror assembly to get one of the green parts(and I have PVM), I got the absolute cheapest versions of the mirror assemblies from Japan and then swapped over the expensive parts from my original mirrors.
