I am giving serious consideration to totaling out my Prius. KBB value is going to be VERY low. I put in a brand new hybrid battery just a few years ago -- between that, a brand new bumper, brand new tires, and smaller things like head rests, radio, etc... what is the best avenue for an inexperienced, private seller to make back a small return on parts that are worth more than the car collectively?
It's good to be able to part the car out, but you have to consider what you're going to do with the left over car? The most expensive parts are Battery, Catalytic converter, Brake Actuator, Engine, Tires. Once those items sell, how will you get rid of your car?
You can probably pay someone to tow it away. You would need to check your area to see who can do it. But there are definitely more valuable parts on this car if everything is parted out. Common items people want are Steering wheel interiors MFD screen AC compressor Throttle Body Injectors And it would be an eyesore if you don't have a garage to keep this car, neighbors would give you a dirty look. Might not be as bad if you don't sell the body parts and the car still looks intact.
