When I move forwarding and brake there's a nasty scrunching underneath. When I reverse and brake it, it goes away. Then, after reversing, it goes forward fine until I brake again. Brakes are ok. It's had shoes and disks all round this year. I limped home using the parking brake.
even though you had new brakes installed, someone should pull each wheel and look them over. where were they installed?
Already looked and they are ok and the wheels spin ok. It's not a scraping or squeaking sound. It's really loud and sounds as though the car's falling apart. After I break the noise continues until i go back a few yards in reverse and then it drives fine until I brake again.
'goes back to normal after reversing' sounds like a pad is shifting out of position, and being properly repositioned by reverse. or sometimes a rock is caught in there, hard to find
