My car is at 102k miles. It gets up to 56 MPG. The bars seem to drop fast if I'm idle or if I'm driving really slow but I never had a hybrid and I got the car when it was at 97.5k miles so I don't know how the bars are supposed to react. The "needs maintenance soon" message is on my screen. The vehicle was serviced on 3/31: tires replaced, emissions inspection, oil and filter chainged.I had a PPI done on 4/30 at 97.5k before I bought it and he recommended I take it back to the dealer to get the Antifreeze/coolant was flushed and changed so I did. I just took the car to a tire shop to do a patch job and they said the tires are still like new. I checked the air filter and cabin filter a few days ago and they both have very little dust. So maybe only a little work is required. My main concern is making sure the hybrid battery and gaskets last as long as possible.
welcome! which gaskets are you referring to? there isn't much you can do for the hybrid battery. keep the intake cooling vent unobstructed and the filter clean. check the fan for cleanliness, especially if you or a previous owner had pets. try not to park in the sun when it's hot out if you can avoid it or use solar shades, and don't try to keep it in ev mode, which is bad for mpg's. follow the maintenance schedule that came with the car and use mileage or months, whichever comes first. all the best!
Did they do the 100K mile maintenance on it? Was the hybrid battery cooling system checked/cleaned? Has the ATF ever been changed? ditto with the brake fluid? spark plugs are due pretty soon & electronic water pump usually starts getting lazy around now. If the battery level on the traction battery goes down very quickly and recharges very quickly; that's a sign that the traction pack is about to go out on you. But you have no point of reference. Use the Dr. Prius app to access the battery's current state. Hope this helps....
