Hi all! - I've recently purchased a (used) Toyota Prius, GEN II - 2007, NHW30 The check engine light is flagged - and I've been told that the vehicle had a historical error code - "CATALYST CODES P0420" I've been quoted by Toyota $187 AUD to have a scan tool place on it again, I've got the sneaking suspicion it's a faulty or aging oxygen sensor - Moving forward, I'm not too keen on paying out every time I'm hoping to diagnose something, What is the best scan / diagnostic tool for the Toyota Prius available on the Australian market? I'm hoping for the scanner to be able to pick up on oxygen sensor information, airbags - just about everything that a Toyota mechanic would be able to - but within reason if its pricey Hope you can all help me with this one! - Swurlo
No it's not an. 02 sensor. It is probably you catalyst .. Autel ap200 will cover you . Unless you're a real Keen meccie.. I use the ap 200 more than I pull tecstream laptop down these days. Good luck . The catalyst is just below the threshold of being able to do its job . This is a self test the car produces at random
Read post #1 and then scroll down to post #37 in this thread, https://priuschat.com/index.php?posts/3246758 You want to choose a scanner that is capable of communicating with all the ECUs in the car. The Autel AP200 is a good choice. Be advised that you will need to login to the app when you want to use it, so you need internet access.
