4th Gen EGR Maintenance

No, don't get me wrong. I did the best I could for my own car, but I do not want make others spend money and time if it is not critical.

Peer review journals are my daily reading, and actually was my main job.

Now, I get out from the ivory castle academia, and take things in economy and pragmatic point of view.

PCV valve is easy to replace for me, especially together with gen3 intake cleaning interval. But, I don't just clean or change it just because I want to.

I still don't believe that we must replace/clean
it. It is not in the maintenance schedule, unlike coolant, or filters.

 

If you're DIY cleaning the cost is nil. The part's about $10 if replacing. It can be accessed from below*, without even removing the intake manifold. That said, if you've got the intake manifold off it's a perfect opportunity.

I previously posted gen three repair manual pcv excerpt, wasn't paying attention to where I was. Attached is 4th gen. More or less the same story though.

 

I have Dutch ancestry on my mom's side, came from a big family, with lots of (married) sisters; that might explain a few things...
