TPMS sensor replacement

    I just replaced my TPMS sensors fairly inexpensive and easily. I bought Autel 2 in 1 sensors (Amazon asin B07FTLX2L4) for $119.80 and Autel programming tool ts408 (Amazon asin B07VZFHJ6H) for $159.95. Only one sensor was readable with the tool but to my pleasant surprise the id numbers are written on the outside of the Pacific OEM sensors. I removed the valve core and broke the bead near the valve stem. Then using some blocks held the tire down to have room to work, changed the sensor stem with the Autel, programmed with the same ID number. After the four were replaced, pressed the TPMS button under the steering wheel until the light flashes slowly and waited 20 min. I have recorded the numbers for 5-6 years from now when the battery in these sensors go bad. Most states will allow inspection with the TPMS light on but I like to have it working. This process was super easy.

    Do you think the tool couldn't read oem sensors because they were dead (battery)? I'm trying to diagnose a persistent light myself (on a '13). But it's also time to swap out for snow tires package, and I'm wondering if I'll be able to diagnose the tpm sensors on wheels that are not on (and no where near) the vehicle.

    My ‘09 with 131k miles had its first TPMS go out.
    I’m off to the local tire guy in the morning.
    He’ll use a tool to tell me which one
    Then I’ll prob pay him to fix

    I’ll see how it goes for a while.
    But will probably change-out the other 3 when I get 4 new tires in 12mo

    I see a lot of hits for the TS508. Anyone care to explain the differences, beside the price bump? Is the 408 all you need; what extra does the 508 have, and is it worthwhile?

    Also, any opinions on the Quickset TPMS Reset Tool.

    Repost an old thread ... (Gen 2 are old, are we :) )

    I replace my 90k /2007 TPMS today with a special fleeb 25 for 4 !!!

    No issue: using 2x4, screw jack, and lower the car to break the bead ... no issue after 10 minutes using gravity work, no jumping needed. The new one fit in nicely...dont forget to sneak in some dawn soap before inflat the tire...

    Techstream: you need to relearn so copy all OLD and new ID ... I do have to drive few miles to update the new kid on the block...

    I have 3 new ones, will wait until the rest of the tires worn and swap them in ...

    So guys: dont use the stinky black tape, just replace it , DIY !!!
