Hello everyone. My '04 Prius with 275,000 mi has suddenly got the red triangle with several seemingly unrelated codes (well two of them are related) C1310 HV system malfunction P1121 throttle position sensor/coolant full control valve/position sensor circuit stuck P3190 Poor engine performance.....this one seems obviously related.. BUT.. I had been monitoring the battery as I usually do due to its age and I noticed the battery temps were all over 100. The car was parked in the sun for a long period of time and I figured that it would cool off. It did not and after sitting I tested it again and the battery temp2 was 120° !! So I immediately pulled apart the cooling fan, I could have sworn I clean this last year, but it was clogged full of hair dirt and debris. If I recall the fan should spin freely when spun w your finger but this would barely make a revolution after taking your finger off. I cleaned it really well and tested it with my 12 volt tester and it seemed to spin fine. I want to test the voltage coming to the fan but I'm not sure what conditions to create to make the fan activate to test that. My hubby battery is indecent shape for the year and miles the last full Dr Prius workup said I had 43% life left Will changing that control valve fix these other problems? It doesn't seem like it's related
No it does not spend freely when it's clean or new go get a new one it stops similarly it's not like she 8 skate wheel . Wen power applied it jump out a yo hand .
P1121, like all P1 codes, is manufacturer-defined: it can mean completely different things in different car models. In a Prius, it means "coolant flow control valve/position sensor circuit stuck". In some totally other car it means something about a throttle position sensor. But kinda the first job with any manufacturer-defined code is to make sure you look it up in the right car model's repair manual and find the right meaning; putting it into a post with a couple totally-different-car meanings separated by a slash just makes for a confusing post. P3190 means the engine is producing markedly less than the expected amount of power. That can be caused by a lot of things, calling for some basic engine diagnosis to be done. C1310 is a code the brake ECU sets just because it knows about trouble codes in the HV control ECU. If you are seeing C1310 without also seeing any code from HV control ECU, generally that means you're using a scan tool that can't see codes from the HV control ECU, so you're kind of working in the dark.
There is no slash in the cookie-cutter description. It is simply "Coolant flow control valve position sensor circuit stuck."
