I am apparently way too tall and have hit my head on the trunk top of my two Prius gen2 for years, so I am testing/buying 5-10cm longer struts for the trunk. 550mm/21.x inches is my first experiment.

Naturally they cannot be to newton weak, but 400N ought to be enough me thinks?

Any tips and/or pitfalls experienced are greatly appreciated!

Is there enough room (lengthwise) in the door jamb to hold a longer strut when it is closed?

strikes me that you'd have to re-mount the door-side ball anchors. Looking forward to hearing about it though.

I believe you can order gas struts online, bespoke to stroke, lifting force etc.
