I am apparently way too tall and have hit my head on the trunk top of my two Prius gen2 for years, so I am testing/buying 5-10cm longer struts for the trunk. 550mm/21.x inches is my first experiment. Naturally they cannot be to newton weak, but 400N ought to be enough me thinks? Any tips and/or pitfalls experienced are greatly appreciated!
Is there enough room (lengthwise) in the door jamb to hold a longer strut when it is closed? strikes me that you'd have to re-mount the door-side ball anchors. Looking forward to hearing about it though.

Cheers, I have now ordered two 550mm from Frankberg with 400N lift force and the compressed length fit, it seems based on measurement between upper joint and lower mount rubber socket. Its only 5 more cm extended, but will report back. In the meantime, I watch this fellow who has bought 21inch and shared it (thanks to content provider and the old-school internet; 87 views! )
