Daughter's Prius has 320 kmi on it. She says the smart entry no longer works. Is this a wear item and can it be fixed?
The only wear item should be the fob's battery. But the system can be turned off, or suffer component failure.
We've owned 5 prius and when my daughter had me look at hers today (#6 prius in the family) and the smart entry didn't work- your post above fixed it-- I've never known that button existed- right next to a button to reset the Low Tire warning which I never knew existed. thanks!
Yes the button can get pushed by the person washing and vacuuming your car or it's kind of anything like that Glad that you were able to figure out that nothing's worn out because in our four nothing like that is ever worn out almost everything else has but this is an extreme mileage conditions too we're all above 300 K
Beware, that TPMS warning button isn't really a reset button, so don't use it to make a low pressure warning go away. It is meant to adjust the threshold pressure that trips the warning. Using it incorrectly may hide slow leaks.
OK so it was the button under the dash. What's aggravating the most is I think I had this problem before. I remember something about a button under the steering wheel unless it was in my 07 Accord. Anyway, thanks for y'all's inputs. What is the purpose of that button?
It is the SKS disable function. Press the button in to disable the SKS. Toggle to the out position to turn SKS disable off. If the car is to sit for a week or two, it is advised to disable the SKS. The car uses less power with the SKS disabled.
