Thanks for asking . He's in fine form, for 15. Right/rear leg is giving him some trouble, we make him "Shiba Sushi" every afternoon, with a glocosamine/chondroitin capsule (300/200 mg) squeezed in, plus a pinch of MSM. Plus a mix of minced meat, rice (usually brown), peas, carrots, cabbage and tumeric. He's feeling his age, squirrel chasing days are over, he'll still pounce on a tossed treat, if he spots it while it's still rolling. His stair climbing is a little sketchy, but he's still managing. He's developed a few idiosyncrasies, has a penchance to nip at handbags of anyone walking by.
He's a cutie! Mine have been on the joint tablet regime since age five. A prof of VetMed at Oregon State convinced me years ago. He takes it too. With my joint issues I should be on it also, but they upset my tummy and I can't eat. At 5'9" and 118 on a good day, can't handle any loss of nutrition. Tried tablets, powder, liquid, no go. The dogs just chow down the dry tablets. Except my Rottweiler. She licked the liquid form directly from the spoon. Anyway, he looks good and what you said sounds good. You folks must be taking good, loving care. When you asked about a ramp, don't remember if I knew it was for a geriatric pup. They can be very stubborn...the old saying "old dog, new tricks." I am starting them all with ramps now when they are young, just to avoid the battle when they get older. Give him a pat or three for all of us here. kristen
