I'd like to use the fuel in my lawn mower rather than let it sit in my Prime's gas tank for 6-8 months. I tried a siphon from the local auto parts store but either there a blockage that prevents siphons or the hose is too short. Has anyone tried removing the gas from their '23+ Prius?
Make sure you stick the hose down within 15min or so of pressing the fuel door release button. When you press the button, it opens up a valve in the fuel filler neck to allow fuel in. After a certain amount of time, that valve closes to prevent fuel vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. I can't remember how long the timer is, but I think it's between 30min and 1hr. You probably attempted your syphon during that time window and the problem is something else, but thought you should be aware just in case.
Yes, I tried a siphon much like that one. The hose it too short or being blocked. btw, the "Sold By" company for that one is a Chinese company, Business Address: 深圳市龙华区龙华街道松和社区油园新村北四巷7号206 深圳市龙华区龙华街道松和社区油园新村北四巷7号206 深圳市 广东 518109 CN
It might not be a bad idea to just drive the car in hybrid mode periodically, say once a week (if you've got a 5 day a week commute). Good for the engine.
