Ive noticed the same thing in my V. I noticed it idles around 12xx. I have a gauges on my stereo. I feel a slight delay one second during acceleration before it kicks in. I'll shut the car off and it will act normal after that. A buddy let me borrow the DrPrius app. I ran a few battery check ups on a few prius I own. I run three amplifiers just above spare tire compartment. They run hot. But I found something else.... tempImagebJ7PoS.png tempImagezehS5B.png tempImagePfwWWv.png tempImagePMD0SZ.png tempImageNWRS9P.png

I don't have DrPrius so I'm just guessing with mine

    Just an update:
I called the service manager at my local Toyota dealer this morning ( been dealing with him for years ). He agreed that it sounds like either the hybrid battery is losing capacity or there is corrosion between the cells and he said that the computer is doing it's job so far by keeping the motor running.
The problem is that their diagnostics only read codes when something goes wrong so I should just drive it until the check engine light comes on since no codes or warning lights are displaying. So I guess I just keep driving it until something shows up or spend the money for Dr Prius. Thanks to all for responding :)

Techstream can run a "health check" on the hybrid battery, IIRC. That said, Dr Prius is worthwhile, and cheaper. Works with the Carista dongle. Just doing the static test (battery monitor) is all I've done, easy, and provides some insight. There's a couple of active tests you can do, with the car running, as well.

Thanks Mendel, I guess I will check out the link to Dr Prius you posted earlier. That dongle you mentioned, is it for sale also on their site?
My main problem with all this is at my age, if I get on my knees to attach it under the dash I may not be able to get back up LOL.

The dealer is right, it won't code until it gets worse but it's not long now. I would look for an independent hybrid shop while you are still not under the gun.

To get a go no go guess from Dr Prius you have to pay extra to those guys who also happen to be selling poorly designed aftermarket hybrid batteries.

You want new oem (for less money at some independents) or a mix and match used oem battery if long life is not a concern.

Techstream really has no active tests for capacity or battery health. However it is certain your battery is failing. On rare occasions an independent shop could improve your battery if corrosion or one or two weak modules were the immediate issue. A dealer would never do that kind of short term repair.

    Its your call.

Thanks for the advice but unfortunately out here in the desert I'm lucky to at least have a Toyota Dealer. No Hybrid shops for a couple hundred miles at least.
