I took my prius in and the engine coil 1 was out. Replaced all coils and spark pulls. Mom took it home and stopped again while driving. It wont accelerate once driving. Any advice? Could it be one of the batteries?
The information that you posted is very cryptic, but this looks like it is a continuation of the same problem that you created a thread about on September 7th of this year. https://priuschat.com/index.php?posts/3563214
A man gotta know their limitations. You did your best and now it's time to take it to a professional for a proper diagnosis and fix, or you could just keep throwing parts at it. Did you put in cheap counterfeit parts? Is the problem still there because you put in bad parts or was the original parts fine and that wasn't the problem to begin with? This is why you test first - before replacing random parts...... It's your money and your car; how soon do you need it running reliability? YMMV
I took it into a mechanic and paid $1400. I didn't do any of it. He will diagnose but just curious what's going on
Apparently NOT a very good mechanic; sorry that happened to you. Seems like he's just throwing parts at problems too and NOT doing any REAL testing - otherwise your problem would be fixed!!!! $1400 for plugs and coils seem excessive; was that a dealer that did the work??? What were the error codes he got? Did he check the fuel system pressure? What was it? Did he give you the old "defective" parts? That's the difference between a good honest mechanic and a shyster that only wants what's in you wallet. Take it to a good honest mechanic that other people trust and has excellent ratings on other platforms - preferably a Prius specific specialist. The more detailed and accurate the information you provide - the better we can help you. Sounds like your mechanic is making excuses. Last time I checked, when you call a dealership - you usually get a service writer, receptionist, sales guy or maybe even a parts guy. None of those people wrench on cars and the actual technician is either working on cars or cleaning up the shop - What he's actually paid to do! Reset what???? and who actually told him to do that? Again, to generic, not specific enough for us to weigh in on what to do next. Bottom line is that you wasted $1400 on a NON-FIX, because you don't know what the actual problem is and nobody is testing to isolate and determine where the problem actual is......... Sorry, this thread isn't going anywhere without specific data. We can start with which car are we talking about. You other thread stated it was a 2017 Prius and your ID states it's a 2009 - two different generations with different quirks. Are either of them plug-ins? Your posting in the plug-in forum. How many miles on them? Are they mainly used for EV only operations and how often does the ICE kick in? How long between fuel-ups?
