    From the department of 'duh...'
Why Tesla Cybertruck sales are falling short of expectations
    1,000,000 reservations.
    50,000 sales.
The cheapest CT you can order now is north of $80,000USD - although there are LOTS and LOTS of demo models out there in the 70s.

Truck drivers are not a monolithic lot, but many of their owners will insist that a $70,000 truck 'earn its keep.'
If Tesla insists that their door-stop must do likewise, then this sub-brand may be in trouble, although the parent company is still OK according to the market and those willing to put skin in the game.....

Some guy in Texas reported that State Farm initially quoted $400 a month for insurance, fired the agent that did it and upped the quote to $800.

High insurance costs are common for BEVs.
This is one of the things that kept me in the pickup camp.
I suspect that this keeps more than a few first time BEV owners from 'doing that again.'
They're expensive....and built to stay that way from their high purchase price, specialized parts, high repair costs, and lack of a fully built-out network of certified repair technicians.
ADD TO THIS......they're generally small, fragile and quite fast, the Cybertruck being the exception that follows the rule.
    It's just fast....for a little while.

SO I guess EV insurance is cheaper than 'gassers'......

It was certainly not three years ago when I requested a quote before going to my CFO for a purchase authorization request!!!!

    Tell you what....
Instead of taking my word for it, let's ask the Googles:

    AI Overview
No, insurance is generally more expensive for electric vehicles (EVs) compared to traditional gas-powered cars, with costs up to $44 more per month. This is due to higher vehicle values, the increased cost of specialized EV parts (like batteries), and the specialized labor and technology required for repairs, which raises claim costs for insurers. Limited historical repair data and potentially higher risk factors, such as faster acceleration, can also contribute to higher premiums.
    Why EV insurance costs more:
    • Higher Vehicle Value:
EVs typically have a higher purchase price than comparable internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, which translates to higher replacement costs for insurers.
    • Expensive Parts and Repairs:
EVs have complex and costly components, such as batteries, that are more expensive to replace than those in gas cars. Repairs also often require specialized tools and technicians, increasing labor costs.
    • High-Tech Systems:
Modern EVs are equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and other high-tech components that are expensive to repair, replace, and recalibrate after a collision.
    • Specialized Labor and Facilities:
Fewer repair shops are equipped and staffed with technicians trained to work on EVs, leading to higher costs for specialized services.
    • Unique Risk Factors:
Some factors, such as the faster acceleration of EVs, may be considered a higher risk for accidents by insurers, which can also influence premiums.
