    The foam seems to rest on the trim lip, to give the assembly height. I am thinking the deck itself could rest directly on that lip. Sufficient support under the deck would have to be provided. Elimination of the foam could gain several valuable inches in height, I would think.

    You lose or gain inches by switching between the high and low foam trays. I don't think you can gain as much as another inch by eliminating the low tray.
