    Hi everyone,

I just replaced the hybrid battery in my 2007 Gen-2 Prius after it started losing capacity and throwing occasional warnings. I went with a third-party pack (with warranty) instead of OEM to save costs.

So far, the car feels stronger and fuel economy is back up. But I’m wondering:

    - Any recommended brands of replacement packs that have lasted well?
    - Tips for prolonging the life of a new battery (driving habits, cooling fan care, etc.)?
    - Has anyone tried reconditioning or balancing early on?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

    welcome!
    1) no, they are all a crapshoot
    2) not really, keep it as cool as possible. if you carry shedding animals or similar, clean the grill and fan more frequently. make sure nothing blocks the grille.
    3) probably not, but it wouldn't be a bad idea with a rebuilt. after all, the cells are old and more likely to go out of balance much sooner than new.
    4) all the best!
