Just read news that unless a Tesla has HW 4, that Tesla's only equipped w/ HW 3 will most likely never get FSD 14. Previously folks with hw3 were told that they would get the full self Drive update. Makes me glad we dumped our model X years AGO when we did.

Tesla FSD v14 to begin rolling out next week - Drive Tesla.

Mine still works good enough for me. But as pointed out in the cited thread, some of us think concentration on 'robo-taxi' is consuming Tesla's software resources.

I have no interest in "robo-taxi" systems, which came about when Elon's distractions became more obvious. Same is true for Optimus. Then the recent AI customized processor project was axed.

IMHO, Tesla R&D resources are going into dark holes with no Return on Investment. So I sold my TSLA stock and saved ~$150 last month compared to the previous year. That is "tax free" income so I can still indulge myself with independent living:

    • The utility company web site leaves a lot to be desired ... "76.67% lower" includes all todate I think.

I just wish I didn't have to guess what all the acronyms mean.

    • FSD - Full Self Driving
    • HW x - the main controller hardware version, Consists of two processors so one can backup the other.
    • HW 2.5 - what I originally had in 2019 (from memory, not Google)
    • HW 3 - released 2021 to 2023
    • HW 4 - released 2024, claimed to be ~3x faster with lower heat load

A better graph showing corresponding months between 2024 and 2025:

The solar roof came online May 2025. After some 'learning curve,' I'm saving about $150/month this summer.

A used, Hertz Model 3 would be an acceptable replacement for my 2019 Model 3:
    • Reasonably low charge cycles
      • < 40,000 service miles
    • AutoPilot standard
      • Switch to "rentable" Full Self Driving
    • Bullet proof from rental abuse (Electric drive train effect)
