Hello. I have a 2012 Toyota Prius 3. It has 200k miles, battery is still working but its not currently drivable due to a blown head gasket from the water pump going out. Everything else in the car was in decent working condition. It has a new water pump as well.

Could anyone tell what it’s worth and what I should sell it for?

if there aren't any newer systems in the car, (brake actuator, battery, etc.) it's probably time to donate it to charity

Water pumps are prone to failure, best replaced every 100k miles to play it safe.

Was the EGR system (including intake manifold EGR passages) ever cleaned? If not that's a likely contributor to the head gasket failure.

    How's the oil consumption?

Sold mine last year for $9300 CND. It probably went a bit too cheap.

Salvage value, say $500 USD if it's a dealership selling you a new car at the same time.

I hate to see any vehicle scrapped, especially a well-built Toyota.

I’m in the same boat, 2011 Prius with 260k, rebuilt title, solar roof and jbl sat nav. Blown head gasket and needs water pump. Anyone want to save it for $600? Still drives but rough. Hate to scrap it. Should I make my own thread?

Forget about whether the car costs more to repair than what it's worth.
If it's repaired, it's worth more to you than its resale value.

but you do have to weigh that against another purchase, both financially and desire wise.

Put yourself in a buyer's shoes. Head gasket aside, with 200k miles:

    1. oil consumption
    2. brake booster
    3. hybrid battery

are additional "jokers in the deck". Any one of those could set you back at least $3k USD, for profession solution.

The EGR is guaranteed to be a carbon mess, and Detroit, Michigan equals RUST.

How long has the head gasket been blown "due to water pump", and did a piston arm get bent in the interim? Or the cylinder walls scuffed, bearings compromised, damper springs busted?

    It's a mechanics special.

or a recycling yards, i don't think there are even any valuable parts. the cat, if it is oem.
maybe someone in cuba would want it. it's great to keep old cars running, but not sensible if you don't diy.

What ever the transaxle and inverter is worth, they are the only sort after parts in a Gen 3 Prius as they make good drive units for DIY conversions ...

Either that, or pull the motor out, install a Zombie board in the inverter and use the space where the engine was to fit a battery pack.
With the exhaust and fuel tank gone, there is plenty of room under the rear to make another battery pack if you need more range, you also have the spot where the traction battery was, so you can sell that along with the battery computer to someone who wants to keep their gen 2 running .....

That way, you get to update your Gen 3 to the 21st century, keep an otherwise salvage value, but still nice car, from becoming land fill or crushed and melted down for steel to make another Chinese import ;):p

You could always try replacing the head gasket, that will delay the eventual choice for a while ....
