I'm seeing some peeling in the clearcoat along a roof line on my 2013 Prius V, that has been kept outside for lo these many years. I've repainted the left rear panel with acceptable results, but that's not in an area that imperfections would easily be seen. I don't anticipate keeping the car for more than 2-3 more years, but honestly I hate the car turning to shit, because once I start ignoring that in one area... OTOH, I don't wanna spend a whole pile of money.

A couple questions for the group...
    • If I simply ignore it I'm assuming eventually it will start rusting there - do you see that happening in the next couple years?
    • The car is only worth $5k or so; how much will igoring it affect the resale value if at all?
    • Is repainting this area going to fix the problem, or will I just see new areas six months from now?
    • What are my options, and what would you do if you were in my situation?

Helps to know where you are. Rust belt is a major factor; far South is another.

If anything fools a buyer into purchasing one of these high mile old hybrids it's usually a clean interior, no rust, nice paint, functioning ac and working electronics in the cabin.

If you can diy sections for low dollars and it still drives good, go for it.
