Need to do a head gasket on my 2015. Wondering if anyone knows a shade tree mechanic that knows how to do this, or a good shop. I will probably be doing the job myself since I’m hearing a head gasket at a shop costs around $4,000. But would love to find a mobile mechanic to help out if possible. Located in Portland Oregon but willing do travel a little ways.
Atomic Auto has had excellent reviews for hybrid service and repairs for the longest time. I don't know if they can be considered cheap. I used them for my former 3rd gen's regular maintenance but never needed them to do anything beyond that besides installing a cat shield. I'm not sure I'm going to continue using Atomic after my dealer's free new car service visits are exhausted. Atomic never rotated my 3rd gen's tires, which they say they do only as needed, even when I specifically asked them to do so.
Just got a quote from Atomic today. $5,600 for head gasket and around $1,100 for EGR. Yikes. There’s a shop in Salem that is $3,900 that I think includes EGR cleaning and valves in that price.
