After a couple hours of trying nearly every thing I could think of, I finally changed the display to the energy monitor one and voila! it worked! This info is not in the owners manual. Grrrr...Wish I'd seen your solution sooner!

I wish I could say the same... I was so hopeful while reading this thread, but it STILL won't work for me! I've tried all the button combinations I can think of, including the exact steps I've read on multiple threads/videos. Wth? I guess I'll just need to keep an eye on the Jiffy Lube sticker instead of waiting for this "smart" maintenance reminder... Anyway, thanks for posting, glad this method at least helped someone. If anyone has yet ANOTHER idea/method, please let me know

You can keep a "log", could be as simple as a notebook in the glove box, or a text file, or a spreadsheet. The latter strikes me as overkill. I'm just using a text format log, the last few entries:

The maintenance intervals are spec'd by Toyota USA, event by event, in the Warranty and Maintenance Booklet, in the glove box of every new Toyota. If missing, you can download pdf from Toyota Tech Info website, under the "Manuals" tab. There's another source too I believe, Toyota Owners site or something like that? Note too: most of the maintenance is miles or months, whichever comes first.

For a "smart" maintenance reminder, I'd have a look at Honda's Maintenance Minder system. It truly is thus, and has a side benefit, a compelling rebuttal when the dealership service writer tries to convince you there's an extra grand or two of nonsense you absolutely must do.

Still, being event by event format, it's humanly impossible to envision the patterns. I cobbled a table format summary in Excel, and also a pdf of it. Both to 120k miles/12 years (the limit of toyota's schedule), and extrapolated to 240k miles/24 years. See attached.
