So at some point my combination meter went dead and I had it repaired it recently went out again and now my power button sometimes doesn’t shut off the car unless I put the key in the slot and hold down the power button the 12v is a factory s46b24r true start from 4/21 Thoughts?
If you just order the part from Texas hybrids you'll have a reasonable warranty in the car will work just like it did Factory. And you won't be redoing it
so it was really hot today (86F in the sun) in San Francisco and all of a sudden, the dash came back on and everything worked as normal including the reverse camera and the start stop button. When it cooled down and after a few stops it went back to black. I had the CM repaired locally about a year ago, but definitely sounds like they don't do as good of a job as Texas Hybrids - so I'll pull it out and send it there
Or if you don't want to pull your car apart and drive around with the dash apart . You can just remove one from a junk car and send it and it's mileage and pertinent information from your driver add a few miles for driving a week or so without. What ever is easiest. It just has to be same series . 04 05 or 06 to 09.
To fix your combo meter find someone local who knows how to unsolder/solder capacitors off/onto a circuit board. My local guy (lap top repair guy) charged me $32 for parts and labor. All is well.
I did It myself, it lasted 3 months, a local guy did it for me it lasted almost 1 year, we amateurs have nothing on Texas hybrids lol
Drag. Local pc repair guy did mine but first ordered what he said were way higher quality capacitors. He ordered 3 specific caps matching the originals. Been nearly two years now and still going strong.
One of them should be bigger. Part of the problem is that Toyota didn't use a large enough capacitor in one position and as it ages its capacitance drops into a range where it no longer works.
