2020 plug-in: CarPlay suddenly does not recognize any talking. Started about 3 weeks ago. It will read a text, play podcast, give map directions, etc. but on a phone call, no one can hear anyone in the car talking. If it reads a text and says Reply? It doesn’t hear a response.

It is the car not the phone because both my phone and my wife’s phone work fine in RAV4 and do not work in my Prius.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

Check to see if you've got the latest software/codec installed on that infotainment system. They're buggy as heck, that's why I use my phone instead. I'm not going to pay an arm and a leg for that convenience - it's just a convenience and doesn't interfere with the operations of the car that gets me from point A to point B. IMHO..

    Good Luck...

PS; your in the wrong forum; a 2020 is a gen4 and requires the phone to be attached to the USB port, next to the lighter.

Thanks, I believe I'm updated with no luck. It's not the end of the world but I'd be happy to work a few hours or replace a few wires to fix it.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I thought I picked Prime Audio for Plug in prime.

i am a 5th gen prime and i have this issue frequently. 'hey siri' won't work. pressing and holding the home button on the carplay screen will force invoke siri, but it won't register anything i say.

holding the volume/power button to restart the head unit will temporarily fix the issue, until it happens again a day or two later. so its definitely on the car end, and its frequent enough to basically make voice commands impossible to rely on (and creates a needless distraction when driving).

i also notice the "hey toyota" functionality is also pretty terrible. saying "turn on the fm radio" takes probably 10s or more while it "thinks" and then its a coin toss if it'll actually work or just silently dismiss itself. i don't really use that feature anyway, but it just seems indicative of how badly they seem to design their software, whether it be first party or 3rd party integration.
