My emails to CoastalTech were not returned, my phone messages went unanswered. I finally got a real person on the phone who told me that they would send out a replacement LockPick basic.

    Still waiting ... <sigh>

Regarding the ability to view FM station's "MSG" while in motion using LockPick 3:

If you go directly to "Audio" and press "MSG", you still get a message something to the effect that "Toyota does not want you to be able to read the title and artist of the song playing, because our lawyers don't think you can drive and chew gum at the same time, yadda, yadda, yadda ..."

HOWEVER, if you have the Bluetooth kit, if you first press the phone off hook button on the steering wheel, wait 2 seconds or so (if you are in speed dial mode, you will see the phone numbers populate under the speed dial entries), THEN press the "Audio" button on the side of the screen, "MSG" will then display the song's title & artist (assuming the station is broadcasting the message).

Be careful. That's illegal in California.

"27602. (a) A person may not drive a motor vehicle if a television receiver, a video monitor, or a television or video screen, or any other, similar means of visually displaying a television broadcast or video signal that produces entertainment or business applications, is operating and is located in the motor vehicle at any point forward of the back of the driver's seat, or is operating and visible to the driver while driving the motor vehicle."

I've just ordered the Basic kit, since all I care about is the Nav override. My phone doesn't have BT even though the car does.

    Rick,

Like you... I just ordered the basic kits. I just got an email saying that it was delivered. I will install them when I get home later this week. When I told my daughter (who also has a Prius) that I ordered the device, she was thrilled. Then when I told her about the other model that did video... she was dissapointed that I didn't get that model. I told her that she was lucky I even bought her the basic kit.

My cell phone does do BT... but quite frankly... I do not need the onscreen display/control. I have a smartphone (Treo 750) and my entire address book is always in the phone... and there is no way that it would fit... nor would I want it in the car unless there was some sort of automatic synchronization back to my exchange server. Hence... I did not bother with the BT upgrade. All I need is hands free talking... which does work just fine.

    /Jim

Has anyone installed a DVD player that fits into the storage area under the radio .... and taken pictures? ;) I was thinking about installing the Clarion VS755 in that spot. I'd love to see how others have tackled the install.

Is there any chance of installing a player in the storage area and being able to keep the semi-transparent cover in place?

ok well i finallly got everything and installed last night. The install really wasn't that bad i actually like the friction things, way less screws to deal with. So i installed the lockpick, DVD, and Siruis. I know pictures pictures pictures. My camera was in winter park and i was in denver so when i get up there i will take them and post. There is one issue i am having now. It seems that the illumination button to the left of the steering wheel is no longer functional. Also i can't rember if the steering wheel buttons liight up or buttons on the stereo but neather have any glow. The speedometer still works but it is bright and i can't dim it. Seems like the car doesn't notice when the headlights are on anymore and there for doesn't dim. Anyone have any idea? i check the button and it seemed fine.
    Thanks

I installed the basic lockpick today. Took me about ten minutes, only because I was taking my time to be gentle while flexing the cables around.

It works exactly as advertised. 1. It "answers" the "I agree" button by itself in a couple of seconds. 2. When in motion, you choose "Destination," then press the "pushpin" icon at the top left and all the options are available as if you're stopped.

Nice job...it looks just like mine! The illumination of the Clarion looks so good at night since it matches the colors of the Prius.

    Enjoy.

Thanks everyone for posting picts/info of/about your installs. I do have one request, Can someone please take pictures of the Lockpick3 device(s) itself. I'd also like to see good pictures of the connectors/wires so we can figure out which pins the device uses to transmit video and audio to the MFD. I suspect that the MFD has multiple AV inputs and your pictures may help us map them out.

    Thanks in advance,

I don't know if this will help you. I did not photo the ends of the plugs. Also I have not tried to post pictures in a message before. This is one of 3 kits from Coastal. I already tried to put all 3 on one post. So I will try them separately now.

Very interesting. So does that video cable plug into the back of the NAV or the back of the MFD?

I did not do my own install. My nephew Fred Dodson works at CarToys on Bryan Irvin in Fort Worth, TX. Phone number 1-817-292-0078. If anyone is interested in the EV, Coastal Tech Lockpick3, DICE, and/or the Signal mirrors installed locally, they did all 4 for me at once. That way I didn't have to get my dash disassembled several different times. Everything works great as for as I know. I have to read up on how my iPod photo is suppose to work with the steering wheel controls. He demoed a store Video unit on my car so the Video works. I have not bought a DVD player. As I plan on getting the Apple iPhone in June.

The I agree screen goes away in a couple of seconds. I already love that. The Sigma Mirror fit perfect. He also said if we could come up with the correct plug end for the mirriors they could make the folding mirrors work.

I have a call in for him to call me I will have to ask him where the video plug in for you. He did tell me the instructions I have copied from PC wasn't all that correct. They had to get wiring diagram from friend at Toyota to finish my jobs. He says they have it down now, so it won't take as long.

I will post as soon as I know.

Video goes to the MFD, audio to the radio.

Thats even more interesting because that is a 6 pin connector and only 2 are used for the AVC-LAN. One is used now for a composite input. I wonder if there is a hidden RGBS back there somewhere. I wish I had a 2006 NAV MFD to play with. even if it was just broken I would still like to see where the traces go and what the chips are in the unit.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before but with the size of this thread I simply don't have time to go through it all the posts (over 135).

    Anyway....

Has anyone used the basic LockPick with the new Nav DVD version 6.1?

The website indicated, prior to my purchase, that it may not.

    Anyone know?
