    2026 Toyota RAV4 - Toyota USA Newsroom

Some of this is a recap of the worldwide premiere but this time with fuel economy and AER. The all new sixth gen 2026 RAV4 kicks off with the 5th generation HEV power train for the Core (LE, XLE Premium and Limited trims), Rugged (Woodland trim) and Sport (SE and XSE trims) designs. A 6th generation PHEV power train that allows up to 52 mile AER (All Electric Range) is for the Sport and Rugged designs. All PHEVs are equipped with a new 22.7 kWh liquid cooled battery. The RAV4 Hybrid will start arriving about December time frame with PHEV models showing up in the Spring of 2026. All this and it still has a temporary spare tire.

Fuel Economy (combined - Manufacturer Estimated) increased across all designs:
    • 44 mpg (All FWD and LE AWD) Previous RAV4 Hybrid was all AWD
    • 42 mpg (XLE Premium and Limited AWD, SE, XSE) Previous RAV4 Hybrid was 40 mpg
    • 41 mpg (SE,XSE PHEV) - 107 mpge Previous RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid was 38 mpg
    • 39 mpg (Woodland HEV) - Previous RAV4 Woodland was 37 mpg
    • 38 mpg (Woodland PHEV) - 101 mpge
    • 37 mpg (GR SPORT) - 98 mpge
    Power increased as well:
    • 226 HP (All FWD)
    • 236 HP (HEV AWD) Previous RAV4 Hybrid was 219 HP
    • 324 HP (PHEV) Previous RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid was 302 HP
    AER Range per trim:
    • 52 miles (SE, XSE) Previous RAV4 Hybrid was 42 miles AER
    • 49 miles (Woodland PHEV)
    • 48 miles (GR SPORT)
The sixth gen RAV4 grew a little depending on trim:
    for the Woodland
    • 181.0 inches (SE, XSE, LE, XLE Premium, Limited) over 5th gen RAV4 180.9 inches
    • 182.0 inches (Woodland), add .7 inches for the tow hitch
    • 182.9 for the GR SPORT
    • Width stays the same
    • Ground clearance is the same as last generation for the Hybrid (8.1 inches) but changed a touch for the Woodland to 8.5 inches while the GR SPORT went down to 7.5 inches
The 2026 RAV4 will arrive with the latest TSS 4.0 and Arene based multimedia system. Every RAV4 will have 4 selectable driving modes: Normal, ECO, SPORT and Custom. For the Plug-in Hybrid, the XSE and Woodland grades will get 11 kW L2 charging and CCS1 DC Fast charging. The SE and SR SPORT will keep the 7 kW L2 charger and J1772. Except for the PHEV models, which will still be made in Japan, the 2026 RAV4 will be made in Kentucky and Ontario, Canada.

This guy has excellent access to Toyota Japan and currently owns a gen3 Prius along with a minivan.

His take on one of the lower cost 2026 Rav4 trims is definitely positive.

I was thinking of buying a RAV4PHEV when our Escape PHEV failed to deliver. I see the utility of very efficient RAV4PHEV. But after switching to an all electric SUV (Equinox EV), I just can't see my self ever buying a gas car again. Oh well, I will have to wait for Toyota to sell all electric pickup truck in the US.
