i have 2 bad blocks in my gen 3, can i replace only these with a pair of new gen 4 cells? here in Brazil it’s very rare gen 3 parts
@jerrymildred do you know if the Gen 4 voltage sensor harness (a.k.a "wire frame #2" but for Gen3) is plug and play in Gen 3? @TMR-JWAP recommended to replace this when upgrading but I cannot find a new harness online to purchase.
I don't know, but I doubt it. They should be available from Toyota. I've seen a few comments here and there on PC about getting them that way for a reasonable price.
To help answer your question I just found this video of Jack from Nexcell installing his modules in a gen4 pack: The video gives you a good view of the Gen4 voltage sensing harness and it doesn't look anything like the Gen3 harness... Also I checked out images of Toyota's Gen4 Lithium pack and that harness looks even more unrecognizable.
No, though I used the gen 4 bus bars since seemed like heavier duty copper. At least I think I did. Followed @PriusCamper rock tumbler bus bar cleaning method with my copper bus bar stash heaviest duty looking set using the National Geographic random find rock tumbler and a cheap online 1lb replacement container since didn't have when I got. Worked great and the 2016 rather high mileage pack modules seem to work good. Quicker mechanical rotation swap pairing to balance pack. Actually, seems to be my best running hybrid yet with way better non highway efficiency compared to em all. Neat seeing that high. I lazily Scotch Bright pad cleaned the nuts base, wire wheel cleaned the battery terminal posts and deoxit q-tip cleaned the sense wire harness ring connectors. Also checking those wires continuity to assure all were good prior and after install. Gen 2 pack rebuild, though the Gen 3 would be no different methodology from what I know.
