Source: World’s climate plans fall drastically short of action needed, analysis shows | Cop30 | The Guardian Recently drafted climate plans from scores of countries fall drastically short of what is needed to stave off the worst effects of climate breakdown, analysis has shown. More than 60 countries have so far submitted national plans on greenhouse gas emissions to the UN, setting out how they will curb carbon for the next decade. Taken together, these plans would cut carbon by only about 10% by 2035 compared with 2019 levels. This is only about a sixth of the drop in global emissions needed to limit global heating to 1.5C . . . The latent risk is CO{2} might lead Earth into a future Venus. Listening to CBC radio news this morning, they're saying the potential record-breaking intensity of the current Caribbean hurricane is due to rising ocean temperature, and that it's likely to continue thus.
I've been saying it for almost a decade... The governments of the world have been taken over by the fossil fool industry because they know the most likely outcome of climate climate change when it gets more dire is nationalizing big oil and winding it down. Holding our governments hostage is the only option they have left if they want to continue boosting production and so far they've been successful in every aspect of planetary destruction.
