We used to call that the 'Lanta Braves back in the day. Fortunately....I was forever cured of my childhood dalliance with Major League baseball a VERY long time ago......
Stated desire for length is being played out today in a >5 hour game. They may be running low on Dodger dogs. Or beer.
In just short of 7 hrs, Dodgers won 6 to 5. 37 runners left on base (wondering what the record is there). No tellin' how many in audience left early.
I was determined to stay up until the end, no matter how long it took. After investing so much time, not sticking it out would be admitting defeat. I believe it was just before 3 AM here in the East when it ended, but by then the actual digits on the clock seemed irrelevant. All this, and I'm not a fan of either team. (Even retaining my Canadian citizenship, I cannot bring myself to cheer for the Jays when they seemingly have put the entire country under their spell, although when I lived in Canada I was a die hard fan. Now my ideal World Series would have been Mariners - Brewers but sadly, it was not to be.)
not sure about the brewers, but i thought the mariners were going to win. i don't dislike the dodgers, but they sure are having their 'yankee' moment
As in "not living up to expectations"? That remains to be seen. It's got to be tough when fans expect you to be a World Series contender every year. At least the Dodgers have some recent successes.
I think the most interesting fact was the singer of the National Anthem in both of the 18 inning World Series games ever played was the same guy - Brad Paisley. The record that may never be broken was 9 at bats and 9 on base results by a single player. I wondered why they didn't walk him just before the second HR he hit.
Actually, Dodgers have 2nd highest and Blue Jays 5th highest, according to the list I'm looking at. Neither are small market teams, which is the reason I can not get on board with either of them.
Yeah oops thanks, I misremembered. Top 5 descending in order New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, Philadelphia, Toronto.
2025 playoff teams: dodgers 320m yanks 285m phillies 284m toronto 240m padres 209m boston 195m cubbies 193m seattle 150m detroit 143m reds 116m brewers 115m guards 113m
I can't believe the Red Sox are so far down the list. I knew there was a reason I preferred them over the Yankees and Mets. (Living in New York for most of my working life did nothing to endear me to either of them).
Red Sox financials give another meaning to 'The Green Wall'. It appears today that Toronto has recovered better from sleep deprivation.
