Now that it's cold and I got the heat on from time to time the fan will kind of make a groaning noise intermittently. Not very often but every now and then. Is there a simple and easy way to lube the fan without having to tear the dash apart and pull the Box out?

Does it make that noise if the fan is run and the heat isn't on? If not, it might be air in the heater core rather than the blower itself. I don't recall if the Prius has a valve that controls whether coolant goes through the core. On cars that do those sometimes make noises when the valve opens or closes. Same thing with blend door actuators.

Daughter says it doesn't happen with the A/C but it's not cold in the summer. I'm pretty sure it's the fan because you can hear the fan running and then that sound changes. My 72 F100 did the same thing and I just lubed the motor and fixed it. I was just wondering if it's hard to get to.

When you pull the fan down and you look at it carefully you will see a bunch of shiet inside the motor you try cleaning all that out and see

Blew it out with air and squirted some light compressor oil at the bottom bushing area. Quiet as a mouse now.
