I received boxes of Prius parts, and one had battery cells for a hybrid battery (not sure which gen, possibly 3?). They look like they're in good condition, no danger pillows.

I called Toyota to see what to do with them, and they told me to call dealerships in my area and figure out myself.

The dealerships said they don't take them either and to call scrap yards.

The scrap yards said no, but one did seriously suggest digging a hole and just throwing it in there lol

So, uh... what's the actual thing I should do though? ¯\_(ಥ⩊ಥ)_/¯

I think Batteries + will accept them for recycling. If not, contact your county gov (or website) and they usually have information on special recycling events days and/or a list of places that will accept them. Our landfill has drop off areas for batteries.

I remember Hybrid Automotive selling battery modules. Perhaps they are interested. I had not head of anyone opening the modules to individual cells though.
