I have been trying to test the traction battery with Dr. Prius for the last three weeks without any success. But before we get to the two tests, let's talk about voltage stats.

Here are a series of screenshots I took while driving today:

What am I looking at here? Why does the pack voltage get into red territory and why do the block voltages go into yellow and red? What does that say about my battery?

    Tests:
    1. Full battery test: I am unable to go past 60% because "battery is too cold (77F)" even though I have been driving for nearly 30 minutes. Outside temp 32F, inside temp 70F.

    2. LIfe expectancy test: Also unable to complete this past step 1 because my battery refuses to fully charge using the instructions. When flooring brake and gas pedal in D mode, I cannot get the battery to charge at all. I can hear the engine kicking in and turning off as I depress the gas pedal vs letting it go. But the energy monitor does not show any charge going to the battery. At the time of the test, battery had 6 bars (out of 8 total).

I have only seen the battery completely full once in the last three weeks. Most of the times, it fluctuates between 30% and 80%.

I am not too concerned yet, but really would like to know if I am doing something wrong or my battery is just too far gone for Dr. Prius to do the tests?

You should contact Jack... He can explain everything to you about it.
18 volts is really high. 258v and not really good either.
If they blocks are failing, and not holding the charge the inverter will continue to try to charge them.
    And the battery can overheat.

Where did you read 18 volts in the chart? Also, the battery temps all seem to be within range? If anything, Dr. Prius is complaining that the battery is too cold. Unless one or more of temp sensors have failed?

The photo is gone now, the measuring of each block. It wasn't the best quality so perhaps it was
18? But that is what it looked like.

Oh, it's back... that was weird... Anyway... Are those voltages 18.31-18.68??

Yep, 18.31 through 18.68. That histogram is really stretched out for such small differences. Sorry about the picture quality. I tried removing meta data from the pictures and that made them blurry.

What is the normal voltage in this histogram?

If it's the OEM battery, I believe about 14.

Hi @indel , looks like your Prius is limiting the power in-n-out of the battery pack, most likely due to outside temperature at 32F, I strongly recommend to wait for a warmer day to run any test for a much more accurate result. Are you seeing any error code?

Gotcha. There are no error codes, either set or pending. The full battery test gives me that much information. We are supposed to have warmer weather later this week (55-70F), so I will try again then. I still do not understand why my battery does not charge when flooring brakes and gas in drive. Are accessories supposed to be OFF when attempting this?
