In the snow and ice, no rear finder liners makes clearing buildup extremely difficult. That isn't good for the tires or preventing rust. I have been unable to find aftermarket ones and figure I have to fab my own with some HDPE sheets. Anyone done something like this? Or better yet, anyone find a seller?
There never were fender liners in the back, if that's what you're thinking. They were just in the front. Nobody has posted on PRIUSchat, that I can remember, where they fabricated rear fender liners, so you might be the lead prototyper. Good luck, should you decide to accept the mission.
Our 2010 (gen 3), Touring* level has some sort of liners, a fibrous material. “Might” be roughly the correct radius, for gen 2. would be a gamble though, likely contours will be different. There’s little studs in the wheel well. Other levels they’re just there, bare. On ours the liner goes over them, studs protrude through holes in it, little plastic nuts thread onto the studs to secure the liner. it’s a mixed benefit though, if anything snow can cling to it, as does grit, due to the liner’s coarse/fibrous texture. * Touring is a Canadian spec level, has the 17” rims, LED headlights and fogs. There’s a similar US level, level “V” or “5”?
