    Hello, I currently driving a GEN two 2006 Prius and it’s time to car shop. I am looking at a 2014 Toyota Prius Plug-in Base, 120,000 miles on it and wanted to know your experience with the plugins does it help with mileage ? what happen if I can’t plug it in ? There will be weeks i can’t plug in at home , will it damage the battery and cause extra wear and tear ?

    thanks for any advice

    Just interested generally; Do they measure NOx etc values - or read OBD values - or did you have a 0420 code lighting up the dash?

    For knowledge;

    In Sweden I have passed many gen2 with lame/cheap cats that don’t pass Toyotas algoritm which is based mainly on the O2 sensor, ie post-cat.

    This is since Swedish inspections actually measure lambda, nox and some other exhaust values actively.

    BUT, if the check engine light is on, this will fail the car regardless. It was a catch 22 that I solved with a small O2 extender with a little added steel wool.
