How's he/she going to take advantage of MG 1 & 2? IMHO; Honda or Ford's first gen hybrid setup would've been a better choice, because the electric motor was sandwiched in the transmission bell housing. To move that vessel, it's dependent on size of propeller and pitch = water churn, similar to tires on pavement.
As it sits, they'll need to utilize the crank shaft pulley to drive accessories. Are they going to try to utilize the traction pack for their electrical power source?

FWIW; Our family used to have a 20 foot boat with a 4 cylinder Volvo penta engine and 20 gallon gas tank. We used to run it all day long and barely burn a quarter tank - fishing trolling. The was 40 years ago.
