Your avatar seems a perfect choice for this lament.

All the major carriers did, but not all the minors. I was checking this when my dad was having phone problems just before he passed away in 2023. That minor-carrier pocket still served his 3G phone, I just had to take it to the local office where they updated some settings to match their latest configuration, which seemed to be changing frequently as newer equipment was continually being rolled out alongside the legacy equioment. No 3G local sunset date had then been announced, though customers who wanted to roam outside of that provider's service areas had to upgrade to at least 4G.

Checking online, I now see they finally announced their upcoming 3G shutdown:
"... announced on September 3, 2025, that they are sunsetting the legacy CDMA network and transitioning to exclusively utilizing Voice over LTE (VoLTE) services. They will decommission CMDA technology on sites in phases based on geographic regions. ..."
"National carriers discontinued CDMA services previously, so customers already utilize VoLTE services when using our national roaming partners..."

It may be the basic model hardware and design stays the same while the software and details vary. In the 4.5 era of the Rav4 hybrid, my 2019 and your 2025 are quite different. And then the model design changeover occurs in 2026.

I see software and details like display changing over the model year while the chassis and basic sheet metal and even the drive train remain the same.

Appreciate esteemed OP is just quoting the title of the article, but my first impression was Toyota's saying "from now on our cars will last longer than a decade". Come to think of it, the maintenance schedule wraps up at 10 years, lol.

Worse than that based on the title alone
"...Will Now Last for Almost a Decade"

The latest Savagegeese video makes the argument we are already there and even Lexus is really not much different than Toyota. Mostly software and screen differences.

Here's the thought that will hopefully kill this ridiculous topic. Toyota used to advertise no one wants Electric cars. How many millions are on the road worldwide now? Toyota also used to boast how many jillians of hydrogen cars they would have on the road by now.
When did so many here forget that if their lips are moving - you know they are _ _ _ _ _ _

Like everything else in life; there needs to be balance. It's kinda like when you were little and didn't know you were making a mess and your parents started making you clean-up after yourself. You started to do things differently, to reduce the mess you were creating - because you knew you'd have to sooner or later clean it up. Unfortunately; some adults never learned that lesson. They're also likely to say, 'that's not my job' too.
It was EPA regulations that cleaned our air and drinking water that industries polluted. These are the same people that claim they can't make money because of regulations.:(
Yes; they are lawyers or car salesmen.......:p:D:LOL::ROFLMAO::cool::whistle: Most politicians are lawyers; so draw your own conclusions.....
