I'd be using trial and error, instead of trying to decipher manuals.
I've had to adust headlights before, to my own preferences.

I couldn't make heads or tails about the markings on the plastic near the screw hole.
I trusted the manual, lol. It's been right so far on other stuff. :)

I have A and B up to 10 notches now. I think it went up some, but it was miserable outside so I didn't use the garage door as a backdrop. Nobody's flashing me, yet. May drive after dark tonight. I hate driving the new car with salt on the road, but what 'ya gonna do?

I'm definitely keep track of the notches though, in case I have to restore it.
There is the issue of taking up slack in the adjustment, but maybe it's not that of a factor when restoring settings.

I had adjusted the GE H6054HO sealed beams on my 1985 Corolla LE with a horizontally flat cutoff (maximum allowed according to the bulb instructions from GE), and people did flash me at times. :)
