I had bought the lithium prius pack from Nexpower(formally known a Nexcell) back in 2023 and now the pack has given me the code p3000. I had researched why the code came up and it was due to block 8 in my pack failing due to cold temperatures below 30f. The Nexpower website even admits to the failure of the lithium cells which is why they switched to Sodium. I merely wanted to find a way to get a replacement block but since the website no longer deals with lithium cells there is no way for me to buy a replacement block. Is anyone selling individual blocks? I tried to email the nexpower company but their only response was for me to buy their sodium pack for 1k which I cannot afford. If anyone has a spare lithium block I can purchase or if anyone knows a way I can somehow repair the block please let me know thank you.

I'm sure one of the guys here who pushed these as the greatest thing since sliced bread will be right along to help you out. Maybe even offer to send you a free one.

How-a-bout it @AzusaPrius and @PriusCamper ? Have some laying around to help this guy out?

Used NexPower (Nexcell) Lithium battery modules are available for sale on eBay. That will be the short-term fix until another module goes bad. Eventually, you will need to replace the complete lithium battery pack because the lithium modules will continue to go bad. It does not make any sense to continue putting money into the lithium battery pack.

Yea i was readinf through the lithium forums and it seems like the cold temperature really messes up the cells. Its crazy because I literally went to Jack’s office and he helped install the pack and he seemed like a nice guy, made me feel confident that the pack would last a long time but that wasnt the case.

Even if i go to a place with a warmer climate? I thought the main reason for the failure was because of the the temperature. I used to live in california and I had just recently moved to Virginia and Virginia has colder winter which is what I assumed had caused the failure. I wanted to replace the failed block and move back to California and im hoping the warmer climate will prevent the pack from further failure.

Virginia is not very cold climate.

The Prius BMS was designed for a NiMH battery. It was not designed for a lithium battery. No matter what climate you live in, a lithium battery installed into a prius will eventually go bad without a properly designed BMS.

Correct, you and a lot of other people. That is the reason you see used Nexcell lithium battery modules listed on eBay for sale. NexPower did not have the resources ($$$) to honor the lithium battery warranty and still stay in business. So, they only provided a partial warranty towards the price of the new v3 sodium-ion battery.

There is currently a project being done to design a proper BMS to be able to use lithium-Ion batteries in a Prius. If you are interested, take a look at this thread, https://priuschat.com/index.php?posts/3456457
I believe that your existing Nexcell lithium battery will not work with this new BMS, but I could be wrong.

The controversies you may seen on others forums are present here on PriusChat too. Jack and supporters and detractors and competitors are members here. So learn the names and figure out what side each is on, before spending any money.

There are many different sellers on eBay, not just one. Adjust your search text to find more.
