Man in 2020 were sh*tting bricks, as lungs and heart have classically been rather non-athletic (was in pretty good shape in mil, but never took to track & field / ball sports as a young lad, other than running to train for boot camp). Even took to running with mask during pandemic, to get used to wearing them under duress (which helped in hindsight w/ working hard client problems on the table). Religiously washed hands, gapped 2m, avoided mixed gatherings, all the sane things a healthcare provider would do.

Point being, no symptoms post-vax, indeed doesn't mean the vax hasn't taken and provided protection... though didn't take any chances. Haven't tested positive nor covid symptom'd since Jan 2020, when came down with the worst congestive flu-like symptoms I'd ever had to that point, save one that nearly killed me 30y prior (fever of 106.7F / 41.5C; ice bath dunk and everything; no memory past being groggy in the sick call cattle cart). After that all sorts of tests -- from the old slow clinic ones requiring serum processing, to home self-tests -- all negative.

Did you get the stronger senior version? I received it for the first time this year, but had to ask for it.

First eligible for old fogey flu vax last year.

Asked the pharmD if that was what I was getting and it was. He said could do the normal if I preferred.

This year, same/same. Probably get the senior mix unless you ask for the other as a standard op.

I’ll have to check the paperwork. I’ve been getting it so long, I hardly remember it.

When I was a hiring supervisor, I always planned for employee outages during flu season. Productivity would fall off and about a week of absences. Even when they came back, not really firing on all cylinders. So iI got more interested on their progress an filled the gap. As ‘management, unpaid OT.

UPDATE: I got the 'big shot' (0..5 mg) but didn't even notice it except to show off my new vaccination T-shirt.

Whenever my hair grows out and I see the ghost of "Albert Einstein" staring back in the mirror, I get my quarterly hair cut and call it a day. Sad to say, my woman asked me to take off my 'prickly' mustaches that made me look older and more Einsteinium.

BTW, I take the annual vaccinations so I won't have to "Breathe Better", 99% pure oxygen.

Glad I took my flu shot on Friday. Saturday was rain and ran some errands. But Sunday morning, woke up to a malaise that lasted until Sunset.

Slight runny nose in the morning now clear. Two-three hours nap, wake and an hour or so later, nap time again. It is a familiar pattern that shows the vaccine works, a mild flu-like, recovery day but no fever or chest congestion.

If true to pattern, I'll wake Monday with energy and attitude.

    LATE THOUGHT:

Using chicken stock, firm tofu, bok choi slices, cut up ham pieces, splash of soy sauce, and squeeze of Sriracha, a congestion clearing, hot soup.

If immune cells were sentient beings (little cartoon characters with dialog bubbles), they be like "Why do respiratory viruses keep showing up in my arm?

Clam Trigacna gigas can kill humans (legs involved) but no other clams, I guess. Marine molluscs are much better weaponized and a few are effing bad.

But this is a vaccine thread. Vaccines are now briefly in disfavor for CDC brief leadership. Maybe some new polypeptides can support MAHA? There are some well-studied examples. There are also many polypeptides (in the venom department) that can kill you promptly.

    Tryna circle back.

    Diversion: https://www.npr.org/2025/11/23/nx-s1-5618299/tatiana-schlossberg-kennedy-rfk-cancer-leukemia

Tatiana Schlossberg, the granddaughter of former president John F. Kennedy, says she has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
    ...
She made her diagnosis public in an essay, called "A Battle with My Blood," that was published on the website of The New Yorker on Saturday, the 62nd anniversary of her grandfather's assassination.

In the article, Schlossberg reveals that despite fighting the disease for over a year, her treatments did not result in a lasting remission and says the disease will kill her.
    ...
her first cousin once removed, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

"Throughout my treatment, he had been on the national stage: previously a Democrat, he was running for President as an Independent," Schlossberg writes. "But mostly as an embarrassment to me and the rest of my immediate family."

She describes Kennedy's history of vaccine skepticism, inexperience in the medical field, and antipathy for the funding of medical research as her gravest areas of concern.

"Suddenly, the health-care system on which I relied felt strained, shaky," she writes.
    . . .

Perhaps not that far from similar threads. It would be ironic if the COVID vaccine effect increasing the chemical cancer treatments might lead to a better outcome.

The paleobiology field did adopt that as an official term.

Some of those bad molluscs do use a hypodermic needle. So kinda vaccine adjacent.

CPAP set to 8 psi? Won't that explode or rupture your lungs or chest?

Google suggests "The average CPAP pressure is around 10 cmH₂O, with typical prescribed settings ranging from 6 to 14 cmH₂O." These pressures translate to 0.142, 0.085, and 0.200 psi, respectively.

8 psi translates to about 560 cmH₂O.
