Okay let me start off by acknowledging this is a stupid idea

What would it take to get a non-plug-in prius up to the 220 HP advertised from the plug-in? I’ve heard the extra ~20 hp comes from a stronger MG2, so could you swap an X/SE transmission into an X/LE to acheive that? Would it be just the transmission swap and ECU tune, or would you need other supporting mods like an X/SE inverter and (god forbid) a plug-in battery?

i want those juicy plug-in numbers without the added weight of the full plug-in system

Biggest factor will probably be the bigger battery capable of more current. Next the inverter can output higher voltage - 650V rather than 600V, if I recall correctly.

It's unclear what mechanical differences there are, but there should be some because the transaxle has a different part designation.
