Sorry, if this has been posted elsewhere. Just saw this on my FB feed, Genuine Toyota Parts and Accessories: Official Online Store | Autoparts.toyota.com 25% of all OE parts, expire in 8 days I was looking at a new 12v battery since mine is about 5 yrs old. One dealer had it for 197 and w/ 25% off and tax in TX, only 172 Costco had it cheapest before this sale, @ 189.
Some dealer sites have free shipping over $75 while some don't and vastly inflate shipping costs. You may be able to order from your local dealer (still ordering online for the discount) AND select ship to store to avoid their normal shipping cost, if applicable. Another confusing factor is the online dealer has a "normal" discount that varies but the nationwide 25% extra discount only shows up in the cart. Some parts are not available online from some dealers. Size and weight can be a factor but I have seen small items like brake pads unavailable at certain online dealers while others have them. So you need to understand the system and check multiple online dealers for the best price in their cart.
Most do not sell hybrid batteries online probably because of shipping costs and core charges. However there are dealers who will do the ship to store for local pickup but for a hybrid battery that really means they have one in stock and want to move it.
If you've got the part no, the Toyota USA parts site is at least good for that: feed in a zip code and it'll display links to assorted dealerships, sorted by distance. They're almost always lower priced than suggested retail. I always plug in 90210, unless I'm serious; then it's time look up the Blaine, WA zip code. I've yet to follow through, it'd have to be something like a short block, if ever.
Yes online Toyota dealers are almost always less than msrp which is what you get if you walk into a parts dept. However these holiday price discounts are in addition to their regular online price. Sometimes as low as 50% total, but I haven't seen that since tariffs made Vancouver's walmart cheaper than a US walmart. Plus I guarantee the dealer is still making money on your part even with holiday sales. The closest to a loss leader a dealer offers is the buy one get one free oil changes.
I have been using Milton Ruben toyota parts which offers free shipping over $75 purchase and runs a 25% promo multiple times a year. Since buying my Prius in October, I have seen this promotion run 2x. They are very fast with shipping but that's where it all ends. If you call them, they cannot answer any questions. If you email them, it bounces. I have tried contacting the dealership's other departments to find out what is the deal with bouncing emails and no one has been able to help. So only buy things you do not intend to return.
Sounds like a road-trip and holiday in Vancouver... It's been about a decade since I was on Granville Island. Is gas still cheaper on our side of the line????
For example, a deep-discharge U1 AGM utility is much less expensive than the Toyota battery, and only a little lower in ampere-hour capacity. Requires adapting terminal clamps, hold-down clamp, and vent tube. I used one 9 years and replaced it pro-actively, although it probably was still ok.
Looks like the add-on 25% discount expires tonight (Tues Dec 2). This is on top of a dealer's regular online discount and free shipping over $75 some give. I decided to break down and order the first set of front brake pads for the 340k mile v. Not totally worn yet and still legal but don't want to risk the factory rotors at this low mileage.
