RAV4HV 2020 we got a letter from Toyota extending the warranty to 10-yr Unlimited Miles on the HV cable which has been susceptible to corrosion especially winter road salt. We have to take it in dealer for better seal.

I had wondered if we should trade in before 100k miles with the orig warranty, so more time.

RAV4HV to me was always amazing as you get 40 MPG, spare tire, big cargo space, but apparently that was accomplished by putting HV cable down under.so there was that corrosion issue..

That cable is for the rear AWD motor.

The Rav4 hybrid in its first few years of this model run (post 2019) has a defect that will be examined and remedied at the dealers. Mine was and it was found to not have the defect so a preventative shield and sealant were added for free. If the defect were found, the main wiring harness would have been replaced, normally a multi-thousand dollar job. Salt on the roads corroded a connector. They use a lot of that in NoVa.

Do you have static on your AM radio? That is an indication of the replacement needed option.

Took them a while but now found, acknowledged, diagnosed and fixed. We call it "cablegate" over on the Rav4 forums.

Schedule yours in. If you need the exact dealer documentation (25DT01), I can send it to you via email. mike is obvious m...dot [email protected]

I won't keep my 2019 past 100k only because at my current use rate, it won't reach that till I'm 90 and doubt I'll be driving it then. But with this fix, it has as good a chance as any of getting well beyond that mark.

I wouldn't worry about keeping it because of this.

The Car Care Nut (YouTuber) was discussing that cable: there’s a connector, low down, near rear of car, and prone to collect water, corrode. There’s been several iterations of a sheathing box around it: first solid, and then revised to have perforations for drainage. He was not impressed.

The fix is the third iteration. Since the failure incapacitates the car and thus could lead to lawsuits, I suspect this fix is a much better one. It is solid and sealed as opposed to not sealed and open for even the previous improvements.
