2004 Gen II. Catalytic converter ($$??)

    time to part with my 2004 Prius (I have 2 cars). Sad because OEM traction battery fairly new...only 3 years old!! Seeking best price. Wondering if I should part out, or sell altogether.
    Any idea how much a catalytic converter goes for in a 2004 Prius? And where you would sell it? thanks!

    Generally the metal recycling places you can call them on the phone and get in touch with them online and almost one in every city the bottom has pretty much fallen out on this though.

    I would sell to a C.A.R.B. state that requires an OEM cat.

    They do not allow cheap replacement converters.

    I would try eBay first.

    Not legal to do a person to person sale of a catalytic converter in California. They tightened up the laws a lot to tamp down the theft problem. I think it is legal to sell a catalytic converter in person to a junk yard or metal recycler, but ID will be required and there will be paperwork. There are middlemen who can expedite this sort of transaction. For instance, found these guys:

    But I don't know if they can accept one from out of state.

    (If the cat is OEM, put it up for sale (unless in CA) on appropriate sites.

    I got a good 600euro for a bad one (420), since the metals included (Platinum (Pt), Palladium (Pd), and Rhodium (Rh)) are double amount of cheaper CC and have not magically disappeared, they are mostly clogged with crap/oil and are unable to catalyze anything.)

    So....planning to get rid of my beloved Gen 2. Has newish traction battery, so the parting kills me. Runs fine, never used oil!!! 200k miles. I also have a gen 4, which necessitates the parting of ways. I so much prefer gen 2 over gen 4! Reading the gen 2 manual is pure joy!!! logical, simple ,well thought out. Case in point: had a license plate bulb go out on gen 4.....dealer wanted $300 to remove panel to replace bulb. I found a place to do it for $150 (did not have the tools/ time). A LICENSE PLATE BULB !!!
