I picked-up my 2026 Prius LE AWD in September 2025 and have just 1300 miles on it. When attempting to install spare tire, I noticed what appears to be corrosion / rust in the trunk. There is no water stains or moisture in the trunk. I already reported it to Toyota dealer and was advised that this has to be reported to Toyota and somebody will contact me from them to look at it as what dealer says: "we are not making these car just repair them". Have you ever noticed anything similar? Please check your vehicle as probably not many owners look inside the trunk under the flooring.
if the other thread is correct, strange that the dealer wouldn't know this. of course, a dealer stating 'we don't make these cars' tells me something.
I took the car to a different dealer,the one that sold me the vehicle.They told me that they sent my pictures to Toyota and Toyota told them to fix the problem.Dealer took my car for two days.They cleaned rusty spots and painted the trunk area. Problem fixed. Whats more interesting,I met a guy with the red Prius 5th gen and he had the same rusty spots in the trunk in the exactly the same locations. It appears to be an issue with manufacturing.I encourage all owners to shereictures of their trunk just to see how many vehicles are affected.
