I own a 2013 Prius C and recently hot engine air was coming through all the vents, even if I enlisted the AC. No AC came out, just very hot engine air. I had to lower the blowers all the way down and open all the windows just to get home. I brought it in to be evaluated and I was told the temp blend doors actuators need to be replaced and they are not opening. They said they replaced 2 doors. It worked fine for about 20 months and now its doing the same thing again. I was charged $3062, most of it labor. Im really disappointed this is happening again. Has anyone else had issues with the Prius C IV temp doors getting stuck or not opening and extremely hot engine air pouring into the cabin even with the AC on or off?

i can only tell you that this is a somewhat common older prius problem, and the whole dash has to come out for repairs, thus the high expense.
are you getting any trouble lights?

No trouble lights, it just happened suddenly twice now. Everything else in the Prius C works fine

i could be wrong, i thought blend doors might throw a code. perhaps there is another dor that has failed, or the ones they fixed. hopefully not

They told me it is rare that the ones they replaced failed again, so now they want to see if its other doors that failed. Feels like they could have checked for wear when they replaced the others, especially since the labor is 80% of the total cost. Car is worth 8530 on Kbb, if I do it again I will have spent 6k on these doors. Not sure its worth it. I live in AZ and AC is critical here

agreed. it's a tough decision, you have to look at what else is out there at what cost to purchase.
i had the same thing with my 2012. engine was acting up, and i decided to move on, but i was in a good position financially.
