Thought it was the battery as it was from 2019 and raised the hood and found the below. Costly repair dealership? damage.jpeg

Clean out all the crap in the engine bay, then do a visual inspection for damage.

Edit, The inverter coolant reservoir should be an easy replacement. The important thing is to check all the wiring for damage.

Squirrels... Rats would of tried to get inside through the dash vents...

As I'm sure you're quite aware...

Leaving almost anything with nooks and crannies unattended for a long time means it turns into habitat for whatever ecosystem still exists in the area.

Yeah popping the hood often helps.

I'm glad I got the cover for this zone:

Why the heck Toyota left it exposed is beyond me. The part no for the cover:

Pretty sure that's normally covered... Suspect when car died and was unwittingly donated to homeless rodents whoever was doing the diagnosis didn't put the cover back on.

And clearly the orange plastic is tastier than the black plastic and black foam insulation.

As in, plastic chewing species have never had it better on our planet!

Small rodents and other animals seek this area due to the warmth/heat intially. It’s just sweet ecology.

I would recommend anyone seeing indications of rodent activity to preventively add/spray a substance to the non-exhaust motor general area (especially on plastic/harnesses) with a very strong smell…

It does not have to be a smell obnoxious to humans, so I personally use peppermint oils or the plant leaves - and you can also try this mixed with cloves or/and acetylcholine acid. Note oils will stay there for much longer, while other compounds not in fatty acids will/may evaporate and loose their effectiveness.

Nope, and it looks absurdly like something’s missing. The gray thing along the side is a lever, you raise it, place the (missing) cover, and lower it to lock.

I've done this on gen2 similar wires was pretty quick . But I have the junk car on my property so I don't have to travel to get to it.

Those cables need to be replaced. Do you intend to fix the damage yourself? If not, your best choice would be to find a hybrid specialist near you to fix it. It will be a very expensive fix if you take the car to a dealership.

I think that I am going to try and fix it myself. Just got to get the right part numbers. I wouldn't mind finding the missing cover also. One of the cables on the other side looks easy to get to. I am not sure where the other one goes.

The orange cable with shielding got to battery down under car in a plastic tray . And 2 orange may curve go into trans if so should be cover on trans top to access the silver screws . To obtain that short trans cable .
