Hi all, I have been dealing with a weird noise seems like brake creaking noise for a while now. Replaced the rotors and pads (Akebono) last week and the noise remains same. There is no sound in braking, but after releasing the brake and car starts moving, it makes this creaking noise which is kind of like metal creaking. I will try to record the sound. Initial thought was suspension related, but once the car starts moving, there it no noise on pot holes / bumps etc. It is not rattling also. Confirmed that the brake shield is not touching the rotor. While replacing, i cleaned it thoroughly. Cleaned the re-lubed the pins with silicone grease also. It was not stuck and was freely moving. What can it be? is it a worn out caliper pin/Cylinder Slide Pin (47715-47010)? If so, both sides. Checked the calipers also. No rust and boots are fine. The sound is very similar to this, but only on brake release and once car starts moving ->
I had that for a couple hundred thousand miles till I replaced the brakes... Lubing the calipers pins is what I believe the source of the noise is, but not certain. Did you lube yours?
Yes.. i did lubricate them with silicone brake lubricant. Used the "Permatex Silicone Ceramic Extreme Brake Parts Lubricant". Made sure that it slides in out fine also. The pads i replaced which was the OEM, looks like what came with car, the outer was worn out more than inner, but had plenty of life left. Does any of the pins have the black fitting on it? On my Avalon, one of them have it. Kind of like a thin plastic nut.
