Raising this thread from the dead. Has anybody applied the Rear Bumper Appliqué themselves? Pretty easy? Thinking of getting this as my wife is already doing a number on the top of the bumper.

I have installed this rear bumper applique.
    Rear bumper applique.with part number.png

It was the first one of the paint protection film pieces I installed and came out the worst. What made my later installations on the hood, door cups and side mirrors go smoother was using two solutions referenced in this youtube 3M video. One a slip solution with baby shampoo in a ratio of 2mL of baby shampoo in 1000 mL of water. The second solution a tack solution made of of 150 mL of 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and 850 mL water. The key I found to doing a better job is a little bit of tack solution on parts you want to stick like a corner of the film and a lot of slip solution on the remainder of the film on both sides and a good squeegee to squeegee out the air bubbles.

There is also a Toyota Japan 08178-47040 for rear bumper applique that you would have to import from some site like impex. It looks a little better in the sense that it has two pieces whereas the USA version is one piece. Similar in price. Attached is a pdf version of the Japanese version instructions translated by google translate.

Boy, I like that Japanese one better than the US one I've got(port installed). A place called JDMYamato has it for about $20 + $45 S/H. Seems legit enough that I might give it a shot. Going to think on it a few days.

With a lot of these hatch threshold applique images posted, I'm thinking "uh, where is it?". On our '10:

Saw that. The piece looks solid but it actually looks like the OEM bumper applique has better coverage as it wraps around also I think I prefer the cleaner clear look.

Got the OE rear bumper applique at the dealer last week when I was getting the wheels done. Will report back after I put it on.

Got the OE rear bumper applique done on the weekend. Just used car wash soap in a bottle as lubricant. Used a hairdryer while I squeegee to help it set faster. Spent a good amount of time squeegee and drying. Not perfect but turned out okay.

Overall I would say if your careful I would pass on it the coverage of the applique isn't even that good. I do like the fact it is clear though so it doesn't take away from the aesthetic and I do like how it is applied onto the bumper versus the use of something like 3M tape. For myself my wife is loading stuff daily for work so every little bit helps.
