There was no one like him growing up, for sure... but seems since the last 2 Summer Olympics, became aware Japanese GenZs have been rising in global athletics a while now (like judo gold medalists Tsunoda Natsumi, Abe Hifumi (m) & Uta (f); skater Hanyu Yuzuru; their men's gymnastic and fencing teams, etc. etc. in Paris -- 20 golds in all, and in Tokyo netted 27; US won 40).
